For our writers

Below, you can find information about upcoming projects and opportunities, as well as useful advice and resources for screenwriting in general.

Upcoming opportunities

Apply here for the 22/23 term 1 film! Bids are now open for the T1 film for the 22/23 academic year, and for the first time we will not require submitting writers to hold any membership. The deadline to get your script in is 03/10/2022, but the earlier you submit it, the more likely it will be considered.

Term film guidance

For the first time, UCL Film & TV Society will not require submitting writers to hold any form of membership to the society for their submissions to be considered.

There are three term films made per year by the society. These are usually around 10 minutes in length, and extensivey  planned, higher budget, full-crew projects. Whether you are a beginner or a more experienced filmmaker, our term films are a great way for you to push your creativity to the limits, while learning what it's like to work on a film with a full crew.

This year, the society will also be accepting short stories as well as scripts, which, if selected, will be transformed into a script by another writer chosen by the drama producer.

For term films, we're generally looking for scripts or short stories that:

 1. Take place in ~3 or fewer locations

 2. Will run for between 5 and 15 minutes

 3. Have an established sense of narrative

Scripts are expected to be formatted in standard screenplay format. Scripts that do not generally adhere to these standards will not be considered.
